It seemed a logical step from making Dragons and writing about
Dragons - to painting Dragons! A liberal use of acrylic paint thickly
layered onto board and varnished, gives a uniquely tactile and dimensional
effect to the finished work. I do undertake commissions, and an
exhibition of Celtic Mythology Painting is planned for the future.

The Glyndwr Dragon
'The Glyndwr Dragon' Is inspired
by Y Ddraig Goch, The Red Dragon of Wales and Owain Glyndwr's
famous historic unity of Wales and of Welsh defiance and
defence against the oppressor. Measuring 110 x 57cm, the
painting is an allegorical interpretation of Welsh pride
and history.

The Battle of the Dragons
‘The Battle of the Dragons’
depicts the fabled battle between the Red Dragon of Briton
(Wales) and the White Dragon of the Saxons (the Invader).
Legend has it that two great Dragons, one Red and one White emerged from an underground lake to fight for supremacy, the Red Dragon triumphing. It is sometimes interpreted as the age-old battle of Good overcoming Evil.
The Book of Revelations in the New Testament also tells of 'a Red Dragon emerging from underground and spewing forth a great flood'
The painting, measuring 72 x 61cm, depicts the Red Dragon and the White Dragon battling beneath the Tree of Life, the ancient Ginkgo. In the background is the great Lake; at the Dragon's feet lie Acorns, a magical Celtic symbol and Sulphur Tuft Mushrooms the 'food of Dragons'!

The Battle of the Dragons - commisioned work
This painting of the Battle Of The
Dragons was done as a commission, after the original work.
It is a similar interpretation of the original painting,
but differs subtly in areas of detail and background content.
